What We Do

The identification of new biomarkers is an increasingly essential element of predictive, preventive and personalized medicine. To meet this need, The Biomarkers Consortium projects serve to develop and qualify promising biomarkers in order to help accelerate the delivery of successful new technologies, medicines and therapies for prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Working together, the members of the Biomarkers Consortium are building uniquely powerful collaborations that are increasing the development of biomarker-based technologies, medicines and therapies for the prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Biomarkers Consortium Goals:

  • Facilitate the development and qualification of biomarkers using new and existing technologies;
  • Help qualify biomarkers for specific applications in diagnosing disease, predicting therapeutic response or improving clinical practice;
  • Generate information useful to inform regulatory decision making;
  • Make consortium project results broadly available to the entire scientific community.

Biomarkers Consortium Focus Areas:
The Biomarkers Consortium has established Steering Committees in four disease/therapeutic areas of focus:

  • Cancer
  • Immunity & Inflammation
  • Metabolic Disorders
  • Neuroscience

The Consortium also develops and executes projects in other disease/therapeutic areas or in overarching areas directly through its Executive Committee.
